Creating a space of your own at home during the Covid-19 crisis

You’re probably in need of your own space now more than ever and maybe you should be making use of a space you hadn’t considered before.

Danielle Myers, ASID, RID, Proprietor, Elle Designs joined us from her walk-in closet this morning. Here’s more from her:

It’s outfitted with a television, my favorite indulgences (cine & chocolates), a comfy chair, & some mindless magazines to peruse. I come in here to recharge my batteries, and sometimes hide from my kiddos, HA! Everyone needs their own space, away from everyday life to relax, and take a deep breath. This may be a sitting area in your bedroom or a window seat in your home, just find “Your” space and go to it when you need too. Ancillary spaces like closets or pantries are often not thought about as rooms to design. We take it to the next level installing gorgeous chandeliers, fun & preppy wallcovering, an outfit of the day hook, & paint to polish this space off.

Design Tips:

Make it Personal – Incorporate meaningful mementos, keepsakes, & touches that only you would appreciate. These items cannot be purchased at a retail store & are far more valuable.

Use Every Square Inch of Space – Take advantage of both the
vertical and horizontal surface of the walls in closets, pantries, or any other
organizational space.

Organize, Organize, Organize – Closet systems are great, with roll-out shelves & cabinets. But not every space can accommodate these so use containers or baskets, labeled, to place items in. Utilize all of the same colored and/or type of hangar in a closet area.
