Local artist exhibiting artwork at Indy PopCon this weekend
Calling all artists, comics and creators! The third annual Indy PopCon will take place from June 17 through June 19 at the Indiana Convention Center and will feature over 90 special guests, a live podcast stage, interactive gaming exhibits, and special programming for kids of all ages.
Today on Indy Style, local artist Kathryn Steele shows off her work and Michael Costello, Owner of Downtown Comis, gives us a few tips that ever PopCon fan should know! Together, Kathryn and Michael say:
• When most people think of PopCon, cosplay and gaming initially come to mind. While those are two big parts of PopCon, the convention sets itself apart by exploring several different fandoms that appeal to EVERYONE – art and artists included.
• PopCon is all about fostering an incubator for fans to come together and experience new things. Local artist Kathryn Steele specializes in fantasy art and character design. She is an IUPUI graduate and official contributing artist for Paizo (Pathfinder Series). She will be exhibiting her artwork at Indy PopCon this year.
• Locally owned and operated Downtown Comics has been an exhibitor with Indy PopCon since the beginning! Going on their third year with the convention, Downtown Comics is Indy’s largest source for comics and pop culture since 1993.
