Nathan Lane, Natalie Dormer talk ‘Penny Dreadful: City of Angels’ season finale

You know Nathan Lane from film’s like “The Bird Cage,” The Producers,” and as the voice of Timon from the Lion King. You could also call him a film and Broadway legend. You may know Natalie Dormer as fan favorite and would-be queen, Margaery Tyrell, on “Game of Thrones.” The costars joined us today to talk about their roles in Penny Dreadful: City of Angels ahead of the season finale.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels opens in 1938 Los Angeles, a time and place deeply infused with social and political tension.

It is a spiritual descendant of the original Penny Dreadful story set in Victorian-era London, but this new chapter is a bold new vision that will employ all new characters and storylines.

When a grisly murder shocks the city, Detective Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto) and his partner Lewis Michener (Nathan Lane) become embroiled in an epic story that reflects the rich history of Los Angeles

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels explores the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore, the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism.

The series is created, written and executive produced by Tony and Golden Globe® winner and three-time Oscar® nominee John Logan.

The series stars Tony® and Emmy® winner Nathan Lane, Natalie Dormer, Daniel Zovatto, Kerry Bishé, Rory Kinnear, Adriana Barraza, Michael Gladis, Jessica Garza and Johnathan Nieves.

The season finale airs on SHOWTIME on Sunday, June 28 at 10 p.m. EST.
