The story of Eddie Rickenbacker
World War I captain’s hat, worn by Eddie Rickenbacker while serving as a World War I fighter pilot, was brought into the studio by Jason Vansickle, the Vice President of Curation and Education at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
In 1910, Rickenbacker won the Rome Miller Trophy on October 2, 1910, at the Omaha Motor Club.
Rickenbacker was also a WWI flying ace, receiving the Distinguished Service Cross eight times, a Medal of Honor, the Legion of Honor, and Croix de Guerre from France.
