Brenna Donnelly is a weekend Daybreak anchor/reporter. A proud native Hoosier, she joined News 8 in July of 2017 as a general assignment reporter.
Her journalism career started in the library media rooms of Fishers High School, producing and anchoring the slapstick news show “Tenderloin Tuesday.” From there she accepted a talent scholarship to Brigham Young University in Utah and graduated as the lead reporter in the SPJ All-Around Best Newscast in the country.
Brenna hosted a national cable show on BYUtv and then worked in newsrooms across the country in various roles, including KPHO in Phoenix, KUTV in Salt Lake City, Fox News Channel in New York City, and KFDX in Wichita Falls, TX.
Brenna also took two years off from her career to serve as a Christian missionary in Japan. She still speaks Japanese and loves making sushi for family and friends.
Brenna and her husband Andrew have a Siamese cat named Piper. When they’re not at work, you’ll find Brenna and Andrew rock climbing, exploring local parks, eating ethnic food, and finally spending the holidays with family.
Since coming home to Indy, Brenna gets a lot of questions about any family relation to former US Senator Joe Donnelly. She says she’s not related to Senator Donnelly but is glad he spells his surname the traditional Irish way.
