Man allegedly posed as Amazon delivery man, held ex hostage for days
ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — A man in Round Rock has been accused of posing as an Amazon delivery man to gain entrance into his ex-girlfriend’s house and holding her hostage for four days.
According to the arrest affidavit, Thomas Hill, 31, used Amazon boxes to block his face from view in order to trick his ex-girlfriend into opening her front door for him.
Hill’s ex-girlfriend told police that the two broke up four months ago and that Hill had “deteriorated mentally.” They broke up after a protective order was issued against him. She claimed that Hill believes that she and her family have been secretly recording him to make a movie about his life.
She stated she never told Hill where she had moved and is not sure how he found out where she lives. She went on to say in the affidavit that after Hill forced his way into her northeast Round Rock home, he pushed her onto the couch and told her to stay put as he moved in. She said he had a gun on him.
Hill lived in his ex’s house for four days, according to the affidavit, starting Monday, Aug. 6, when he forced his way in, to Thursday, Aug. 9, when Round Rock police responded to a call from her security company.
She told police Hill controlled everything she did and would decide if she could eat or drink. She also stated that Hill would physically assault her when she gave him an answer he did not like.
The victim stated that on Thursday evening, Hill left to get groceries and told her that if she left, called anyone, or anyone else was at the home when he returned, he would kill her and her daughter, who was not there at the time.
According to the victim, she was able to lock Hill in the garage when he returned, and contact her security company using a key fob. She told police she let Hill back into the house, thinking he would gather his things and leave so no one would get hurt.
ADT security reached out to the home after receiving the alert. Hill answered, telling them everything was fine, but after he couldn’t produce the correct password, Round Rock PD was contacted.
According to the arresting officer, both Hill and the victim answered the door when he arrived on the scene. Hill told the officer that there were no problems, but the victim said she needed help. The officer followed Hill as he ran back into the house. According to the affidavit, Hill proceeded to follow his ex around the home pretending as if everything was still alright. After additional officers arrived at the scene, Hill was taken into custody.
Hill has been charged with violation of a protective order, aggravated kidnapping, and burglary of habitation. His combined bond is set at $575,000.
The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.
