Police rescue dog from drain in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A dog was rescued Thursday afternoon from a drain on Bayshore Boulevard.

Tampa police worked to get the dog out.

Toby is a 7-year-old rescued dachshund.

His owner, Andrea Cassidy, was at school all day and hired a dog walker. Cassidy said Toby got loose, ran across Bayshore and stopped traffic before jumping in the water.

She’s very grateful for the officers who responded.

“They’re amazing. They’re true heroes. They saved my dog.”
