Sheriff: Ohio man tied woman to chair with ratchet straps, threatened to eat her

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (WCMH) – A Cambridge man is accused of holding a woman against her will, tying her to a chair with ratchet straps and threatening to eat her.

According to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at a home on Dunning Lane in Cambridge.

Deputies went to the home for a well-being check on the residents of the home.

When deputies arrived, they were met at the door by 34-year-old Robert Rivers. While the deputies were talking to Rivers, investigators say a woman emerged from the other room with ratchet straps still tied around her body.

The woman told deputies Rivers came inside the home, beat her with a baseball bat and then restrained her to a chair using the straps. She said he continued to assault her while she was defenseless.

She also told police Rivers threatened to kill and eat her.

The woman was able to escape while Rivers was talking to deputies.

Rivers was arrested and charged with kidnapping, abduction and felonious assault. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
