1 arrested after weekend Columbus chase

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – A test drive in Indianapolis ended in a car chase in Columbus over the weekend.

According to the Columbus Police Department, just before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, a tow truck driver, in the 4000 block of 25th Street, was attempting to recover an SUV that had not returned from a test drive in Indianapolis.

When the driver of the tow truck approached the vehicle, 28-year-old Aaron Wiley, sped away and hit the tow truck driver’s assistant in the process. He was not seriously injured.

This turned into an hour-long chase going, across two counties.

Police said the chase eventually ended in a field near County Road 850 South in Jonesville.

Wiley was taken into custody and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.

He is facing preliminary charges including leaving of an accident resulting in injury, resisting law enforcement and criminal recklessness, among others.
