1 dead, 1 critically hurt in double shooting
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported shooting on Fort Wayne’s southeast side Sunday evening.
Police were called around 7:37 p.m. to the 4700 block of Warsaw Street.
FWPD Spokesman Officer John Chambers said a woman was pronounced dead. A man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Chambers said police are not actively looking for suspects and no arrests have been made.
“It [the shooting] is possibly a domestic situation,” Chambers told 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WANE. “We’re still trying to collect and gather information, more details about what possibly led up to the shooting.”
Chambers said there were individuals inside the home but could not confirm their ages or how they know the victims. Chambers said they could have been potential witnesses.
Chambers also didn’t provide information about the relationship between the man and woman.
Police have not released any names and additional information, including an exact cause and manner of death, will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office Monday.
The incident is under investigation.
The shooting comes less than 24 hours after two other shootings left one person dead and two others hurt. It’s unclear if the shootings are related.
