Woman dead after shooting on city’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman has died after a shooting on the city’s west side Saturday morning.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department public information officer William Young, officers were called to the 300 block of South Harris Avenue Saturday around 5:30 a.m. on reports of a person shot.

When officers arrived to the scene they located the woman who had suffered from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital and later died.

It is unclear what led to the shooting or if a suspect has been located.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
