1 dead after home invasion robbery leads to shooting on near north side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One man is dead after a home invasion robbery led to a shooting on the city’s near north side overnight.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened just after midnight in a residential area in the 700 block of Edgemont Avenue. That’s about one mile north of IU Health Methodist Hospital.
IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley said the shooting was a result of a home invasion robbery. The victim of the shooting lived at the home.
Officers were called to the scene after a caller said shots had been fired in the area.
When police arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not identified the victim or released information about a possible suspect.
