Coroner IDs security guard, patron who exchanged gunfire outside strip club

2 killed in overnight west side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified a security guard and a patron who died Monday after an exchange of gunfire at a strip club on the city’s west side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the area of Lafayette Road and 38th Street at approximately 2:30 a.m. for a report of a person shot.

Officers said a man who had been escorted out of the Pony strip club got into his car, pulled up in front of the strip club and started an altercation with the security guard.

Police believe the man pulled out a gun and shot the security guard, who returned fire and killed the man.

The security guard was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later died there.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office on Monday afternoon identified the man who died at the scene as 34-year-old Damien Sutton and the man who died at the hospital as 30-year-old Nicholas Fine.
