HENRY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Monroe County say one person died and another was injured after they were ejected from a vehicle near Ellettsville on Monday.
Police say the crash happened around 7:51 p.m. in the 4100 block of North Hartstraight Road involving a single vehicle.
An officer in the area saw the car traveling north on Hartstrait Road at a high rate of speed. The officer turned around to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle collided with a tree off the side of the road before he could conduct the stop.
A female, Rebecca Crozier, was pronounced dead at the scene. A male inside the vehicle was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and later airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital with a broken pelvis bone, police said. Both victims were ejected from the vehicle.
The crash was still under investigation by the Indiana State Police and the Ellettsville Police Department on Wednesday.
