25-year-old man faces molestation charges involving 5-year-old girl

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) — A Kokomo man was preliminarily charged Thursday with molestation involving a 5-year-old girl, Indiana State Police said Monday. 

Wesley Smith, 25, has an initial hearing set for Thursday in Howard Superior Court 4, according to online records. 

The Cass County division of the Indiana Department of Child Services had told police that a Howard County girl had possibly been molested. An investigation found Smith had allegedly committed a sexual act with the girl in 2018 at a Howard County home.

Smith surrendered Thursday to deputies at the Howard County Jail. He later bonded out of jail.

Police provided no additional details on the case.
