$25,000 worth of marijuana found during traffic stop in Vigo County

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Two arrests were made on Monday during a traffic stop after officers found more than 11 pounds of raw marijuana in the car.

The West Terre Haute Police Department reported an officer was working Operation Pull-Over and stopped a speeding vehicle on Interstate 70 near Darwin Road.

During the traffic stop the officer reported a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle.

Officials report 11.7 pounds of raw marijuana was found vacuum sealed in bags and hidden in the trunk of the vehicle. Officers also located and seized numerous additional edible cannabinoid products.

The male and the female in the vehicle told police that they had gone to Colorado to purchase the marijuana and were bringing it back to Indiana.

Garett Morley, 24 of Washington, and Stephanie Renault, 22 of Petersburg, were both arrested and taken to the Vigo County Jail. They are both facing preliminary felony charges of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Dealing Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana.

The Vigo County Drug Task Force reports the estimated street value of the marijuana seized is $25,000.
