29-pound shelter cat needs a home

PASADENA, Calif. (WFLA) — At 29 pounds, Chubbs the cat is almost the size of your average 3-year-old.

The Himalayan mix was found wandering along a street in Altadena, California street earlier this week.

“Luckily, he was found by a good Samaritan who lugged him to the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA for care,” a post from the shelter reads.

The well-fed cat, who was given his nickname by the Humane Society was matted and in desperate need of grooming.

Chubbs has taken up residence in the shelter’s staff office because he’s too large to fit comfortably in a kennel.

“He has a sweet disposition, but his heavy load makes it uncomfortable to move around freely,” the post continued.

The shelter is looking for Chubbs’ owner. The cat has no ID tag or microchip.

If no one steps up to claim him, he will be available for adoption on Sunday at 11 a.m.
