3 arrested in Columbus homicide

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Three people have been arrested in connection to a Columbus homicide.

According to the Columbus Police Department, officers responded to a shooting at Tool Dynamics in the 800 block of South Marr Road on the evening of February 26.

After arriving on the scene, the victim, later identified as 37-year-old Leobardo Flores, was found deceased. Police said he died from a gunshot wound.

An investigation into the deadly shooting then began, which has now resulted in the arrests of three individuals – 35-year-old Abraham Cesareo, 34-year-old Eladia Jacobo-Ortiz and 31-year-old Eliel Avelar.

Cesareo and Jacobo-Ortiz, whom both face preliminary charges of conspiracy to commit serious bodily injury, are being housed in the Bartholomew County Jail.

Avelar was arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s at a hotel in Chicago. He faces a preliminary charge of murder and is housed in the Cook County, Illinois Jail.
