3 women shot, 1 dead after overnight shootings

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A woman was found shot on Layman Avenue late Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 3400 block of Layman Avenue, near 34th Street, right after 11 p.m. Tuesday.

They found a woman in her 50’s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the front yard of a residence.

She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.

A couple miles away and about an hour later, police were called to the 1100 block of West 35th Street.

There, two more women were shot in an unrelated incident.

A woman was rushed to the hospital and into surgery. She is in serious condition.

Another woman was grazed in the leg. She was treated at the scene and is expected to be OK.

Police believe a suspect fired from a car into the residence then fled.
