3-year-old brother of former boy mayor runs for office
DORSET, Minn. (WISH/AP) – A 6-year-old boy who became mayor of his town at age three is endorsing his brother this campaign season.
Three-year-old James is looking to follow in his older brother’s footsteps.
Robert “Bobby” Tufts served two terms as mayor of Dorset, Minnesota. He lost a bid for a third term last year to a 16-year-old boy.
He shared some advice on how to be a good mayor.
“To not talk poopy to people,” Bobby said. He also added James should say, “Welcome to Dorset, please vote for me.”
During Bobby’s tenure as mayor, he helped raise money for charity and declared ice cream a necessary food.
Dorset is an unincorporated town and “elects” a mayor each year in a fundraiser for a local food festival. The winner is chosen by picking a name out of a hat.
The result will be announced on Sunday.
