INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Four children and two adults were taken to Indianapolis hospitals after a two-vehicle crash on the city’s east side Wednesday afternoon, Indianapolis Fire Department said.

The crash happened around 2:15 p.m. at East 38th Street and Post Road. IFD said a silver Toyota with five occupants, including four children, was traveling eastbound on 38th Street when it turned left in front of a GMC SUV.

The SUV hit the Toyota and then landed on its side. An 11-year-old passenger was extricated from the front passenger side after being trapped. She was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical but stable condition.

The 25-year-old female driver and three other children traveling in the Toyota were also taken to the hospital for treatment. They were listed in good condition. A dog that was also traveling in the Toyota was taken to Noah’s Animal Hospital for treatment of possible injuries.

The male driver of the SUV was taken to Eskenazi Hospital to be checked out.
