GIBSONTON, Fla. (WFLA) – Maria Celestine of Gibsonton came back from vacation recently to dozens of boxes at her front door.
Her 5-year-old grandson, Alijah, ordered dozens of toys using her Kindle.
“There was probably about 25, and several more kept coming for about five days,” Celestine said. “At the end of the day, there were probably 40 boxes I had to return.”
Alijah’s shopping spree added up to $960. The toys were ninja figurines and toy swords, all things that 5-year-olds love.
Grandma thought she had the right parental controls in place and says this should be a reminder to double-check, then triple-check.
Celestine did return most of the toys. She also returned the Kindle so this can’t happen again.
Gibsonton is a suburb of Tampa.
