57-year-old man suffers undisclosed trauma in homicide on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are treating the death of a 57-year–old man Monday morning as a homicide. 

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Eric Jones.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a residence in the 3700 block of Baltimore Avenue, near the intersection of East 38th Street and North Keystone Avenue, around 8:30 a.m. on a report of a “person down” inside the home. 

Police arrived to find Jones “suffering from undisclosed trauma,” according to a release from police. Emergency medical personnel pronounced Jones dead at the scene. 

Police nor the coroner elaborated on the circumstances of the homicide or the manner of trauma. The coroner indicated more information should be available later this week. 

Homicide detectives on Monday morning began searching the area for witnesses and continue to investigate.
