8 students injured in Pike Township school bus crash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two Pike Township school buses collided on the city’s northwest side, leaving eight students injured.

The crash happened just before 4:15 p.m. Friday afternoon at W. 62nd Street and Rodebaugh Road.

One bus rear-ended the other, according to Pike Township Fire Department Chief Rob Saunders.

Eight students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Twenty-four other students were examined and released to either parents or to other buses for transportation.

Neither bus driver was hurt. The bus that hit the other one suffered a broken windshield.

No other vehicles were involved.
