9 IMPD members promoted to captain rank

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Some law enforcement agents in the Indianapolis area are starting off the week with high recognition.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department presented promotions to Commander Christopher Bailey, Assistant Chief James Waters and seven lieutenants. They all now hold the merit rank of captain.

Chief Troy Riggs said officers must see the community as their own family as they strive to achieve the reduction of violence in the city.

“The mayor has given us some pretty lofty goal,” Riggs said. “But one of the reasons I’m here as your chief is because we can obtain that goal. Because we have some of the finest men and women in the nation wearing the uniform of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.”

Public Information Officer Richard Riddle was among those promoted.
