A double dose of good news in the fight against childhood cancer

FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — For much is his life, 2-year-old Easton Carraway has been fighting stage 4 cancer. Thursday, his family received news that the latest scans show the little boy, whose father is a Foley firefighter, is cancer-free.

On the same day, employees of O’Charley’s restaurant in Foley presented a check to St. Jude Runners, a group of men and women who run from Memphis to Mobile to raise money for St. Jude’s hospital where Carraway has been receiving cancer treatment for months.

“It’s just amazing. Like I’m shocked. I just want to thank everybody like all the employees…the guests…everybody..that have helped us out to raise money for these kids,” said Rafael Pettway, an O’Charley’s employee.

Rafael isn’t just an employee of O’Charley’s, whose employees sold t-shirts in 16 stores to raise money, he is also a member of the St. Jude runners. The group makes tracks from Memphis to Mobile to raise awareness and funds for life-saving research.
