Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site invites visitors to celebrate 100 years of women’s voting rights

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)– Wednesday marked a century since women received the right to vote in America and community members were invited to a celebration at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site in honor of the milestone. The site’s new exhibit, Votes for Women: The Road to Suffrage, was front and center at the celebration.

Hoosiers have a chance to learn about the fight that women all over the country went through to be able to vote. More than 400 artifacts are now on display on the third floor of the site. Visitors can also get a crash course on history makers with local ties like Alice B. Sanger and Mary Wright Sewell.

Watch the videos to hear details from Jennifer Capps, who is the Vice President of Curatorship & Exhibition at the site.

The new exhibit is open now and runs until Dec. 31. Click here for updates on tours and events.
