Indianapolis Ballet brings ‘New Works’ to The District Theatre

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Ballet is bringing “New Works” to the center stage.

The dance company, which hasn’t performed in The District Theatre in front of a live audience since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, plans to give people something a little “unexpected” in its showcase.

“It’s a great eclectic program, all truly new works,” said Artistic Director Victoria Lyrias. “We’re just glad to share our art form with the community. We’re excited.”

“New Works” strings together several performances and combines them in hopes of capturing the audience with the themes of edgy, fresh, insightful and thoughtful.

“It’s a small, intimate theater, so the experience for the audience is so cool because they feel and see everything,” Lyrias said.

News 8 talked about the upcoming performance with company dancers. William Robinson and Jessica Miller shared what fans can expect from the shows and performed some of their moves on Wednesday’s “All Indiana.”

Five shows will be performed Thursday through Sunday. Tickets range from $20-$30 and are available online. The show is about two hours with an intermission. Seating is at 75% of capacity as part of COVID-19 precautions, and patrons must be masked while in the theater at 627 Massachusetts Ave.
