Joella’s Hot Chicken supporting nurses and teachers with ‘Bless Your Heart’ campaign

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Joella’s Hot Chicken is encouraging the community to help support nurses and teachers during a week of appreciation amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“We wanted to do something a little extra for them,” Joella’s Chief Marketing Officer, Katie Wollrich said.

The company is doing it with its “Bless Your Heart” campaign. The idea is for community members to nominate teachers and nurses they believe should be recognized for their efforts during the COVID-19 crisis.

“We’re going to take nominations from members of the community and we’ll select them and award them some free food from Joella’s,” Wollrich said.

Wollrich wants the customers they serve to send a message of solidarity to the men and women on the front lines and the teachers who are powering through the new challenges that come along with e-learning.

“We’re hoping they realize they’re not alone in this,” she said. “[It’s] a way to hear a thank you from someone else in the community and also from Joella’s.”

Wollrich says Joella’s is motivated to pay it forward.

“Our motto is to always do the right thing and that’s something we try to live by,” she said. “I think that’s what keeps us going every day right now is that we are a brand that is giving back.”

Nominations for “Bless Your Heart” are Sunday May 3-10. Also, on May 6, 10% of their proceeds go to American Nurses Foundation.
