Native returns to Indianapolis to debut documentary about single dads

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Black Male Conference celebrated its 21st year Tuesday at the Indiana Government Center.

The conference highlights and tackles issues specific to Black men.

This year, filmmaker John D. Harris traveled from Los Angeles to premier his new documentary. The film “Missing Pieces” digs into the issues that single fathers face in the Black community and highlights the impact the dads make on the family dynamic.

The movie tells the stories through the eyes of a couple of single fathers, pastors, experts and others who understand what it means to children to have fathers at home.

Harris says he plans on showcasing the film in Indianapolis in March. The Indianapolis native shared more of his inspiration, including his upbringing in Haughville, on Tuesday’s “All Indiana.”
