Restaurant chain offers free breakfast in April to people on COVID-19 front lines
CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — The Kolache Factory is showing its appreciation for medical workers and first responders on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic by gifting them breakfast during April.
As a part of the restaurant chain’s “Fueling the Frontline” promotion, emergency workers get a free sausage and cheese kolache or a fruit kolache plus a coffee for free.
Lan Haywood is the owner at the restaurant chain’s West Carmel location. He talks s about why it was important for the Kolache Factory to pay it forward.
“These people are really doing the hardest work that’s required right now,” Haywood said. “A lot of people are fighting in different ways and this is our way of making sure the Kolache Factory is contributing to that fight.”
They’re also asking local businesses and people in the neighborhoods surrounding their three locations in central Indiana to support their second initiative. It’s called “Adopt a Frontline Hero.” People can place a paid order and have it delivered to someone working at a hospital, clinic, or police or fire department.
“We really appreciate everything you do and we’d like to thank you for all the efforts that you guys are doing out there,” Haywood said. “Whatever we can do to lighten the load we’re here to do it for you.”
