Attempted burglary leads to car chase on west side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An attempted burglary with shots fired led to a car chase on the city’s west side early Tuesday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to a residence in the area of Lynhurst Drive and Rockville Road sometime before 4 a.m. 

Police say that during the incident shots were fired however, it’s unclear if it was the suspects or the homeowner who fired the shots.

While investigating, officers attempted to stop two vehicles in the area but both vehicles disregarded and sped away and the chase began.

The cars led officers north on Lynhurst Drive through Speedway and up to 30th Street where the two vehicles split.

One of the two vehicles crashed into a front yard, a juvenile suspect, from the crashed vehicle, was detained and later released to his parents.

The suspects in the other vehicle were not caught.

It’s unclear if there are any injuries involved in the incident.
