Authorities investigate 3-year-old’s accidental shooting of brother

MARION, Ind. (WISH) — A 3-year-old boy accidentally shot his 2-year-old brother Monday morning in the living room of their home, police said. 

The shooting occurred about 11 a.m. at a Avondale Addition home in the 4200 block of Creston Drive, just north of Marion, according to a news release from Detective Kyle D. Beal of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. 

The bullet struck the 2-year-old in the right, rear shoulder, exited the child and lodged in a wall, the release said. 

An ambulance took the 2-year-old to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis. The boy’s condition was not available Monday night, the release said. 

Police said the mother and father were being cooperative with police. The Indiana Department of Child Services was investigating the incident.
