VIRGINIA (CNN) — A Virginia child is dead after being left inside his father’s SUV on a sweltering day.
Authorities say Riaan Gondesi’s father apparently forgot to drop his son off at daycare.
The man went to work and the boy was in the car for about three hours.
Officials attempted to revive the 17-month old but he was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon.
“I don’t understand how it happens or why it happens but all I can say is for adults transporting young people that should be your first concern,” Sheriff James Agmew said.
The medical examiner has yet to give an official cause of death.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office will determine if charges are to be filed.
