Ball State grad, journalist killed in D.C. shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Ball State University graduate working as a journalist in the District of Columbia died in a shooting.
Charnice Milton was shot while returning from covering a meeting for Capital Community News, the news organization reports.
“Charnice was a talented reporter with an engaging manner that endeared her to her sources,” the news organization wrote on its website. “She was a valued member of the CCN news team completing several assignments a month. This organization will miss her contributions as will the communities of Wards 6, 7 and 8.”
Milton graduated from Ball State before earning a master’s degree from Syracuse University.
The 27-year-old began working for Capital Community News in August 2012.
