Bartholomew County man faces 2 rape charges

HOPE, Ind. (WISH) – A Bartholomew County man is facing two rape charges after a woman says she agreed to go on a date to a restaurant, but he took her to his home and raped her instead.

Hope resident Jeffery Polk, 49, was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail on the charges connected to the May 22 meeting, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner, The Republic, reports.

Officers arrested Polk six days after the incident, citing a delay in the woman coming forward and needed time to investigate.

Polk reportedly admitted to the rape in an interview with Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office investigators, saying he didn’t mean to hurt women but couldn’t control his sex drive.
