Beech Grove to shutdown city, police Facebook pages

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WISH) – The City of Beech Grove will shutdown its Facebook page on Wednesday according to a post Tuesday evening.

The announcement was posted to social media, saying the decision comes after consulting with counsel.

The move comes after the ACLU had filed a lawsuit against the City of Beech Grove on behalf of two women claiming that their First Amendment rights were violated.

The women reportedly posted comments on the Beech Grove Police Department’s Facebook page, and the city removed their comments with no explanation.

According to court documents, Kymberly Quick and Deborah Mays-Miller were then blocked from posting on the city pages.

In addition, a post on the Beech Grove Police Department Facebook page Tuesday afternoon said that page would also be shutdown.
