Bicyclist hit, killed by semi in Greenfield
GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A bicyclist died Monday afternoon after being hit by a semi-truck in Greenfield.
Emergency crews were called to the 2400 block of West U.S. 40 after a woman was hit by a semi around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
According to the Hancock Sheriff’s Department, the semi, being driven by 55-year-old Reed Thompson, was heading east on U.S. 40 carrying an oversize load when it hit the woman riding a bicycle.
The woman, 36-year-old Theresa Corey Burris of Greenfield, was transported to the hospital, where she later died.
The fatal accident remains under investigation.
The Indiana State Police is investigating to see if any safety of equipment violations contributed to the accident.
