(WISH) — The COVID-19 vaccine debate is getting weird — and the latest installment is Big Bird vs. Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.
It started with a tweet from Big Bird’s verified Twitter account announcing he’d gotten the vaccine.
Hours later, Cruz responded to the Muppet’s announcement and accused Big Bird of pushing government propaganda.
Cruz shared several more tweets about the bird’s vaccination, including a GIF showing Big Bird breaking down a door.
Others responded more positively to the announcement.
President Joe Biden responded to Big Bird’s tweet, commending him for getting the shot.
Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky also got in on the action, praising the puppet for his bravery.
