Big Game Bound: Parsing the Patriots and Saints

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re heading down the road to Atlanta and another week closer to The Big Game.

Anthony “AC” Calhoun is talking all the major headlines around the NFL leading up to Super Bowl LIII.

Leading into Week 11, AC is talking to sports reporters covering two of the top teams in the NFL, the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints.

“The sky is falling”

The Patriots are coming off a bad loss against the Tennessee Titans.

“There’s a little bit of concern here in New England,” said Ruthie Polinsky, sports reporter for WPRI. “If you look at the games they have coming up after that bye, there’s a couple of lose-able games.

Polinksy, with a joking smile, said that “the sky is falling” for New England fans.

“They’re 7-3 and it seems like the world is ending,” joked Polinsky.

Jokes aside, the Patriots do have tough matchups coming up against Minnesota and Pittsburgh.

Window closing in New Orleans?

The New Orleans Saints are 8-1 and on top of the NFC South division.

They’ve won eight games in a row and are looking to return to the Super Bowl.

However, their led by a quarterback nearing the end of his career.

“Management knows, and I think that they’ve shown signs that they know Drew Brees is about to turn 40,” said Brian Holland, sports reporter with WVLA/WGMB. “He is aging, he does have an expiration date. I guess they say ‘father time is undefeated.’”

That said, the Saints are red hot and are making moves to put them over the top, signing WR Brandon Marshall after previous free agent signee WR Dez Bryant went down with an injury.

“I’ll make the case that the Saints are the hottest team right now in the NFL,” Holland said.
