Decatur manufacturer closing plant; 50 workers impacted

A Decatur manufacturer has announced plans to close its plant, a move that will impact 50 workers.

In a warn notice to the Indiana Departent of Workforce Development, Silberline Manufacturing said it was closing its plant at 2010 Guy Brown Drive. The Tamaqua, Penn.-based manafacturer of automotive parts, plastics, industrial coatings and graphic arts and printing inks said the closure of the Decatur plant was part of an “ongoing effort to shrink its geographic footprint and consolidate operations into a smaller number of locations.”

Silberline has two locations in Tamaqua and one other in Mexico, as well as facilities in Europe, South America and Asia.

The company said it would tranfer work from the Decatur plant to other locations.

The layoffs are expected to be completed by July, the notice said.
