Monday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Monday’s business headlines.

College grads

Those armed with a newly-minted diploma will find the best job market in years.

Employers plan to hire nearly 11% more graduates from the class of 2019 than they did from the class of 2018, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

Salaries for new grads are also up from last year.

Charity

Americans gave away more than $400 billion in 2017, according to the most recent annual figures available from the data provider Giving USA.

What’s more, the U.S. gives more away as a percentage of GDP than any other nation, according to the Charities Aid Foundation.

Chrysler recall

Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 300,000 vehicles in North America because a transmission problem could cause them to roll away unexpectedly.

The recall covers Dodge Dart compact cars from 2013 through 2016 with six-speed automatic transmissions.

Gas prices

Prices at the pump are higher and drivers should not expect relief any time soon.

According to the Lundberg Survey, the average price for a gallon of gas went up $12.69 cents a gallon in the past two weeks.

The prices are up more than 60 cents since Jan. 11.

In central Indiana, the average price for regular unleaded is $2.85.
