Monday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Monday’s business headlines.

Fakespot

Apple has removed Fakespot, a well-known app for detecting fake product reviews, from its app store after Amazon complained the app provided misleading information and potential security risks.

Apple did not immediately offer a reason for removing Fakespot.

Fakespot’s CEO disputed Amazon’s claims and said he got no warning from Apple before the app was taken down.

Indiana retirement

Bankrate says Indiana ranks 9th, scoring points for affordability but losing for healthcare and culture.

Florida was second on the list. Its frequent hurricanes hurt it.

Georgia ranked tops for affordability and good weather.

Cruises

A court blocked an order that would have lifted CDC COVID-19 rules on ships.

Florida had been granted a preliminary injunction that could render CDC restrictions on cruising to and from the state as option guidance starting in July.

This means vaccinated and unvaccinated guests sailing out of Florida could have different cruising experiences.

Unvaccinated guests aboard Royal Caribbean and Carnival’s cruises will face more costs and onboard restrictions.

OPEC

OPEC+ ministers agreed on Sunday to boost oil supply from August to cool prices which have climbed to 2 and 1/2 year highs.

From August until Dec. 2021, the group will increase supply by a further 2 million barrels per day.

Crude oil is falling overnight and could lead to lower gas prices.
