Monday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Here’s a look at Monday’s business headlines.

Walmart supply

Walmart recalls Better Homes and Gardens essential oil-infused aromatherapy room spray due to bacteria that was found in a bottle of the product.

There are six different scents, including lavender and chamomile, lemon and mandarin, lavender, peppermint, lime and eucalyptus and sandalwood and vanilla.

The room spray was sold at about 55 Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com from February 2021 through October 2021.

Wine

The wine industry faces the same supply-chain issues plaguing so many other sectors.

That’s creating a lot of concern about holiday parties.

The Wall Street Journal says champagne, in particular, could be in short supply.

Demand for items key to wine production – bottles, corks, labels – has spiked as well.

Deere & Co.

Deere & Co. will continue to provide health insurance and bonuses to striking employees.

On Oct. 10, about 90% of UAW members in Illinois, Iowa and Kansas rejected the initial contract that the union and Deere negotiated.

The proposal would have raised wages by 5% or 6% and given workers more money when they retired.

But the contract also would have ended the company’s pension plan for new hires.

Energy

A surge in energy stock is challenging climate-conscious money managers who beat the market for years when the sector struggled but are now missing out on Wall Street’s hottest trade.

The S&P 500 energy sector has rebounded 54% this year.
