Thursday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Thursday’s business headlines.

Rent

Apartment rents are suddenly on the rise.

Real Page, a real estate analytics firm, says apartments are about 96 percent full nationwide as a stronger economy boost.

That’s pushing rent increases up by about three percent.

Papa John’s

Papa John’s shares jumped on a report that founder John Schnatter is working with investors to buy the company.

Schnatter was ousted as the company’s CEO and the face of the brand after a number of controversies, including reports that he used racial slur on a conference call.

Schnatter still owns 30 percent of the company.

McDonald’s

McDonald’s is stripping artificial ingredients from more food to win over customers.

The fast food chain says the ingredients are gone from its buns, cheese and sauces.

The new recipes are McDonald’s latest attempt to project a more healthful image and reverse a sales slump in its main U.S. market.
