Thursday’s business headlines
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Thursday’s business headlines.
Eli Lilly
Eli Lilly has signed a deal with a smaller biotech company to work on developing drugs together.
The company, Avidity Biosciences, will get $20 million from Lilly.
Avidity specializes in using DNA and RNA to develop new medicines.
Starbucks
Starbucks is adding dirty needle disposal boxes to its bathrooms.
The company is placing the needle drops in 25 US markets – with plans to expand by the end of summer.
Starbucks said last summer that its bathrooms would be open to everyone, even noncustomers.
Anadarko
Occidental Petroleum is upping its offer to buy Anadarko Petroleum, launching a bidding war aimed at wresting Anadarko from Chevron, which agreed to acquire the Woodlands Oil and Gas Company nearly two weeks ago.
The deal was worth $38 billion.
Tesla
Tesla lost $700 million in the recent quarter.
Even though Wall Street was bracing for an apocalyptic quarter, it was still worse than expected.
Tesla fell because the federal tax credit was cut in half at the beginning of the year and also more competition from Porsche, Audio and other in the electrcit vehicle market.
