Wednesday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Wednesday’s business headlines.

Fall foliage

The 2020 Fall foliage prediction map from SmokyMountains.com is finally live, which means you can officially start planning your outdoor fall activities and scenic road trips.

If you’ve never used the annual interactive tool before, you’re in for a real treat. This year’s map runs through Nov. 23, when nearly the entire country will be past-peak foliage.

Fall foliage is worth billions to the areas that attract tourists.

Holidays

The holidays are not canceled this year; Halloween and Christmas sales ramp up earlier than usual.

The president of Christmas Decor says people are spending more time at home and will want to decorate their homes more.

One of the major holiday party supplies and decor companies, Oriental Trading Company, has seen an unusual surge in Halloween spending beginning in early August.

Disney World

A reimagined holiday celebration will begin Nov6, 2020 at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Projection effects will transform Cinderella’s castle with a Kaleidoscope of designs, including a whimsical Christmas sweater and regal overlay of red, green and gold ornamentation.

Holiday kitchens will return around the World Showcase promenade, offering favorite dishes such as slow-roasted turkey with stuffing at the American holiday table.

Pfizer Vaccine

Pfizer’s CEO says his company will know if a COVID vaccine is going to work by the end of October.

He said its phase three trial is “progressing very well” with 25,000 patients already recruited.

Once the company is satisfied with its results, it will go to the FDA for approval.

Meanwhile, Astrazenaca has paused a COVID vaccine study after a study participant came up with an unexplained illness.
