Car drives through Franklin home, creates ‘big boom’
FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) – A woman said her son accidentally drove a car through her house Monday morning. The crash happened in the 1300 block of Grand Canyon Circle.
Two people were inside the home during the crash but no one was seriously hurt, including the driver.
Sherri Sizemore said she was in a bedroom when the red car came crashing into the house. Her son pulled into the garage and accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, according to Sizemore.
“We heard this big boom sound,” Sizemore said. “I said, oh my God. I ran into the front room and my son was there, saying, I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
After the crash, the home was filled with scattered furniture, dry wall and cracked wood. The inside smelled heavily of gasoline.
“I thank God that everybody was OK. I do. Because it was scary,” Sizemore said.
City workers inspected the home and deemed it unsafe. The Sizemores said they were looking for a place to stay.
The family does have insurance, according to Sizemore.
