Carmel leaders reveal final design for Monon Boulevard
CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – Carmel leaders revealed the final design for the widening and expansion of the Monon Greenway through Carmel Tuesday morning.
The new boulevard will expand the Monon from the current 12 foot wide path into a 140 foot wide section. It will include bike paths, sidewalks and parking spaces.
Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard says they looked at how other countries overseas handle bike traffic.
The project will be paid for in part through a bond the city council passed in Jan. of last year. The city will also shell out $23 million dollars.
Work will begin in July and the project is expected to be completed by July 2018.
