Coach facing charges in Kentucky wanted in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The suspect is 40-year-old Keyon Menifield of Flint, Michigan.

He faces felony charges for punching a referee earlier this month at a children’s basketball game in Kentucky

News 8 has learned he’s also facing criminal charges in Marion County for punching a female hotel worker from behind last year.

Court documents say Menifield rented three rooms at the Red Roof Inn on Shadeland Avenue near 82nd St.

When he went to check out, court documents say a hotel employee found marijuana in one room and cigarette butts with a removed smoke detector in another.

When the employee told Menifield he wasn’t getting his deposit back, court documents reveal he got upset and knocked over a computer.

The employee ran out of the hotel. That’s when Menifield chased her and punched her in the back of the head.

He then fled the scene.

Menifield is charged with battery resulting in bodily injury. That’s a class A misdemeanor.

Court records show he failed to show up in court in December.

Marion County Prosecutor’s Office told News 8 Menifield likely won’t come to court in Marion County until after the case in Kentucky is over.
